Selby Active Cricket Programme launch in collaboration with Middlesex in the Community!

On Wednesday 19 November, Selby Trust and Middlesex CCC joined forces to launch the free Selby Active Cricket Programme!

In attendance were ex-cricket legends Devon Malcom and Angus Fraser, who met and spoke with young people taking part and members of the community.

The initiative aims to give local children the chance to enjoy sport, build confidence, and stay active in a safe and inclusive environment.

The launch was well attended by young people and the local community, with members from Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Greater London Authority (GLA) present.

Paul Butler, Selby Trust CEO said of the event and launch:

‘’How excellent was it for young people on the launch of the programme to meet legends of the game in Devon and Angus? Our partnership with Middlesex CCC has allowed for the delivery of the programme, in a nod to our heritage with Haringey Cricket College. The programme allows for young people to have access to such a wonderful sport and stay healthy, as part of our wider Selby Active offering’.

The Selby Urban Village project has sports and cricket at its focal heart, with the sessions the start of a long-term partnership which the community will greatly benefit from. Ahead of the SUV completion, there will be an increase in cricket activity on-site over the next two years.

The programme will continue every Wednesday at the Selby Centre for free, for children aged 6-12 between 4.30pm and 6pm.
