Windrush Day takes place on Wednesday 22 June - A special day to remember when around 500 migrants from the Caribbean arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex in 1948.
Windrush Day was introduced in June 2018 on the 70th anniversary of the Windrush migration. This year on Wednesday 22nd June 2022, marks the 74th anniversary.
Below are a small selection of local events put together as on the Haringey Council website, highlighting the significant contribution of the Windrush Generation.
WINDRUSH FESTIVAL

LET’S TALK: THE WINDRUSH LEGACIES WITH SHEBA MONSTSERRAT
On Tuesday 21 June, 5pm to 7pm Sheba, a stand-up comedian, poet, dancer and historian will be engaging her audience, sharing ideas and experiences using poetry and her historical background on the Windrush legacy. Reminiscences, Reflections on what is meant by home, where is home? What was left and lost and what’s been gained? WINDRUSH STORY TIME: COMING TO ENGLAND
