Today we celebrate our Centre Manager Ahmed's 20th year with the Selby Trust - joining the team less than a year after the Trust was established as a charity in 1993.
Starting as a work placement as part of his Business and Administration course, Ahmed soon joined the team on the Selby reception, before rapidly working through administration to office manager. In 1999, Ahmed became the Centre Manager for the Selby Trust working across all of the Centre and Project's activities and demands, from increasing relationships with licensees and groups who use the site to supporting the growth of local projects and partnerships.
Always in a suit and tie, Ahmed has been an inspiration to all of us here throughout this time and continues to manage a huge responsibility as our projects and activities grow in 2013 - including the return of the Community Organisers hosted by Selby as part of Locality's Nationwide grassroots movement.
Helping to cultivate the Selby Green Hub from our Wood Works Wonders enterprise to the Selby Trust's position as a leading social enterprise and diverse community hub in North London, he states that:
"It's great to work in such a dynamic environment with so many vibrant and passionate individuals here at the Selby Centre. I'm proud of our achievements over such a long period of time but am increasingly surprised at how much we are able to do because of the support we get from local people."Â
As we too look forward to our own 21st birthday at the end of 2013, we are proud to continue to support a growing number of local people with enterprise and life skills, a dynamic community space and projects that foster social inclusion in the communities where we live and work.
Many of our staff are local individuals who have given their time to make the Selby Centre a vibrant and inclusive space for everyone.
